The department should be a leader in the field of counseling and special education, both academically and practically.
Mission:
To develop qualified human resources capable of serving society in the fields of counseling and special education.
Goals:
- To prepare, graduate, and qualify specialists in the bachelor’s degree programs in Counseling, Mental Health, and Special Education, in order to provide the Jordanian and Arab educational sectors with specialized professionals.
- To conduct training courses for special education teachers and educational counselors to enhance their performance and contribute to raising their theoretical and practical knowledge in their respective fields and specializations.
- Organizing specialized seminars on special education, counseling, and mental health in collaboration with experts and stakeholders in the local community, as well as relevant government and civil society organizations.
- Participate in scientific conferences, science weeks, and science days organized by the College of Educational Sciences.
- Serve the local community through the contributions of the department’s faculty members by delivering lectures, holding seminars and workshops for all sectors of the local community, providing counseling services to families, and diagnosing cases.
- To train and qualify specialists in psychological and educational counseling as part of the sub-objectives of the Master’s program in Psychological and Educational Counseling at the college.
- To conduct field and theoretical research by faculty members in the area of developing services provided to specialists in counseling and mental health, as well as special education for individuals with special needs.
- Contributing to improving the mental health of university students through psychological, academic, and career counseling provided by department faculty members, by working to develop a counseling and psychological consultation center for university students and staff.
- To provide counseling and therapeutic services to segments of the local community by holding specialized courses and developing appropriate programs for this purpose.
